I must have thrown bad money juju in the universe

December 2nd, 2013 at 08:47 pm

So...since my excitement from the yearly budget, I have had multiple money issues. I almost feel like I put bad juju out there for being so "optimistic." My husband was in an accident this weekend. Good news...he is fine and so is the other person. Bad news....damage to the car. Bad damage. Luckily it is driveable right now, but we will have to do something about it. Repair the car with the deductible? Repair truck with money we get from insurance company? Or bite the bullet on getting a new car (but we were trying to wait until Spring.) Other various money issues have come up. Small hits of financial drama. How quickly the exciting feeling goes away.

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

sorry to hear of this, try to say every day 'Thank you for the safe outcome!'
and I will remember to do the same on similar issues

Life's challenges...&@^#%$. Really great that DH & others were not injured. When emotions recede, try writing out pros and cons of each of your choices. I'm confident you'll make the right choice for your circumstances.

We're having a blizzard today, can't see across the street due to high winds & blowing snow cutting visibility.

Glad your husband is okay! I would do what you can to repair car so it is able to be sold, whether that is now or 6 months or more. If you don't have a car payment now, it is good to try to hold off on a new car payment if money is tight.

bummer and glad that your husband is ok!! definitely wasn't your yearly budgeting or optimism/excitement that "caused" the new financial problems - you're not that powerful - it's just life! good luck figuring out the next car move and don't lose your focus. keep going regardless of the "setbacks", which again, are just life (so annoying!!).

Sorry about your husband's accident, but glad your husband and the other person is OK. Hopefully things turn more positive. It seems just as things start going smoothly, you get something bad happening.
