Overwhelming time of year

January 9th, 2014 at 09:44 pm

Surely I am not the only one that feels overwhelmed this time of year. Its hard to not jump on every bandwagon...lose weight, save more money, cook more, shop less, have more me time, work harder, be more organized. My head feels like it is going to explode just thinking about it!

I am allowing myself this week to catch up and line up my money. (Adjusting from when family was here.) Tomorrow I will make my basic credit card payments and student loan payment. But nothing to write home about.

I think I just want to be a better me this year. Work on my financial goals and work on being positive. Positive out = Positive in....right. Smile

I can empathize with feeling that everyone has such high expectations from me. I 'm no Wonder Woman and I'd rather pull the quilt over my head and go back to sleep sometimes. Would find it helpful to grab paper and pencil and give pages Headers like... Lose Weight, Savings, Organize Rm # 1, Rm #2...etc, De-ClutteR ENTRY CLOSET, PANTRY, MB CLOSET , Need to Buy and whatever else is running in your head.

Some of us find if we write down ideas under Headings that are important to us and running through our heads, it relieves the pressure. It's ok to put a dab of toothpaste on the back of Header sheets and stick them to the wall or the back of the door. It's there so to add goals that jump out at me. I can add what I need to do to make something work out. for example if making home made meals is important, I need to buy groceries, can't go buy until I've made a list, can't list until I list 6 dinner entrees + side, lunch to go, and 6 breakfasts, It's easiest to start with what I have at hand so need to check out pantry and freezer...see what I mean? The stress is transferred to paper so you don't have to remember everything.

Your 'Need to Buy' header or Meals You Tube offers an overwhelming number of Planners from Dollar Store to ridiculously expensive but if Saving Money is a heading paper or a scribbler works! Don't throw out old papers, tick of those that are done and add a new paper when needed! Use a 3 ring binder if you like, dirt cheap at any Thrift store.

Plans change, what's more important or less important need flexibility. I challenge myself to do 4 top things for work and 4 top things at home each and every day. Sometimes I can get a bunch of lesser things [lower on the list] done and I try to delegate to whoever has the skills to do it...not perfect, just done. DH will try if I keep giving compliments. DSs will help if I use bribery.

It' gets to be a habit to plan your day. 21 days of conscious repetition creates a habit.

Carol, sorry, using the old laptop which sometimes contract sentences.

Trying to suggest a dab of toothpaste sticks Header pages on to wall or back of door, waiting for you to add action steps and timeframe. sorry, it all got too long
