Another Week

October 19th, 2012 at 04:04 pm

I survived another week working at my main job, our shop and the restaurant job. Tonight is going to be hard because I have my full 8 hours at my main job then I have to work 6.5 hours at the restaurant. I know that I am making progress but it is at a very low rate.

I got hit with a late fee on one of my credit cards. The payment was initiated before the due date and posted on the due date, but they considered it late. I've called and they won't refund it. Its very frustrating because it was $35.00! So that kind of messed me up. I did make credit card payments today and one I paid double the minimum. And all the cards will get another extra payment this month.

Our electric bill came in. I tried to save money this month by raising the temp 1 degree during the day and 1 degree at night from our normal temp. So I was super excited to see that my bill was $110 less than I had budgeted. So I am just going to leave that surplus in my household account so we have a cushion.

I'm not sure I understand correctly...If you mean the sum was taken out of your account by the due date but not credited to your CC by the due date, it's maddening but can cause a late fee. However, if the payment was credited to your account on the due date, it shouldn't have caused a late payment. If the clerk decline to credit back I suggest trying again, talking to a supervisor or *decision maker* who is authorized to correct the error.

I admire you determination and effort. Working two jobs is really hard as the weeks go on but it's worth it in the end to get out of debt. I wonder if you've put your list of credit card balances & interest rate of each on Saving Advice. They give excellent help.

How did the termite spray go? I suggest you keep the receipt and warranty with your important papers so that you can locate these if needed. Do they check their work after a set period? I'd check and double check in spring to see if there is any evidence of termite infestation.

On my CC statement it shows the payment posting to my account on the due date. And so when I tried to see why that would be late, they said it was because it posted on the due date, which was late. I did speak to a supervisor, and they refused to refund it. If anything, this is just more determination to get rid of this stupid credit card.

I do have my credit card balances on my blog. Unfortunately, the progress is not overwhelming. Smile

And the termite treatment is done. It comes with a 1 year warranty. And each year you have the opportunity to renew the warranty for 10% of the original cost. And the company we chose does a 6 month courtesy check, just to make sure everything still looks ok and to see if another treatment is necessary. Apparently where I live, termites are bad and a lot of people have them (they just don't realize it). But I created a file and kept the receipts. I will definitely be doing the yearly renewal!

The credit card companies have gotten so greedy. I know your time is limited but I'd contact the Customer Service representative for the region/district and ask their assistance in getting you a refund for the late payment. I'd also e-mail Consumer Services for your state to request their assistance since your taxes pay for that service. Tell them what date the sum left your bank and posted by due date doesn't make it late.

That is completely lame. They should call the due date the "past due date" if they are going to charge fees like that! It would definitely lead me to close my account and pay them off ASAP. The CC companies have gone overboard these days and there is just no insurance against getting screwed over by them! Good luck and I'm sorry they are messing with you.
